Biometric Packaging for Security Convenience

Biometric technology used to be something that only high-level security facilities used. Now, it’s in everything—including our packaging! Biometric packaging is now a common type of packaging for people to use, simply because it can be used for authentication, security protocols, and also better, more personalized access to the goods inside. protecting your items means that you can use different ways to enhance said security functions, and biometric packaging is one of those.

Types of Biometric Packaging

Fingerprint-protected medicine boxes are one, where you have to use your finger to authenticate the contents inside. This is especially useful for sensitive medications.

Another one is facial recognition for high-value items in packaging. Yes, your face can be used to help with activation.

Finally, there are voice-activated locks, which are locks that open with the sound of your voice.   You just need to say the word—or many words, and it will open. It’s a great way to improve your own security protocols, and enhance the overall results of your packaging.

The Industries Benefiting from This

Pharmaceuticals are one example. Medications are something that will really improve all of the safety measures needed if you use this. a lot of times, if the medicine is rare and life-saving, having this can make or break your health.

Confidential shipments are another. Obviously, they must be protected, and with thieves getting bolder, having this type of biometric security is the way to go.

Finally, you’ve got luxury brand packaging.   High-ticket items require you to have enhanced security. It isn’t just good for those security reasons, but also makes you look good too. Having biometric packaging shows that you care, and in turn, will also prevent theft of these items, so you don’t lose money.

The Benefits

The biggest one is that it prevents theft. Theft of items is something that is all-too common, as it happens with many types of packaging. Even low-value items are the mercy of this. when you have biometrics, however, it gives a bit more security, and makes it harder for them.

It also enhances personalization. With biometrics, people can get authenticated items that are theirs, without any possibilities of someone else taking it. It's great, and really makes it shine.

Finally, it improves the trust that customers have in the brand. Lots of customers sometimes worry about the security of their items. Well, with biometric packaging, that peace of mind is restored, and really enhances the overall results of the security of such items.

So yes, it does work.

The Future of This Packaging

This type of packaging has a dynamic future. Biometrics are not all that common in packaging right now, but are growing in popularity.

We will start to see a lot of these changes with AI. AI-enhanced packaging is going to take these biometrics to the next level, allowing the packaging to recognize people instantly. Some might be able to even recognize multiple profiles or share products, really making it some packaging that’s secure and safe. You can even authenticate it for multiple people!

Biometrics are not just something used in the past, or some esoteric sort of packaging. It’s the future. It offers security, convenience, and really makes it shine. Being able to make the packaging stand out is the way some brands do it. adding biometrics might just be the security protocol that you need in order to make the customers happy, and also to prevent any information from getting out, thereby making it the best packaging not just for current customers, but for future ones as well.

Reusable Film for Sustainability

Sustainability is a huge part of packaging. Improving your environmental impact isn’t just a suggestion, but a necessity for many people in the packaging world. Traditional film is made with plastic, but there are now alternative means to packaging peanuts and bubble wrap, which don't use this wasteful packaging.

Reusable filler and film solutions are now offering some solutions that incorporate protection, and also reduce waste.

Various Reusable Options

There are a ton of reusable filler and film options that are becoming even more important for companies to utilize.

Inflatable air pockets or air pillows are one of them. These are made with plastic, but there are now bioplastic options. Made with starches or plant materials, it keeps the item nice and protected, without compromising the quality.   It is definitely a great solution for people to use.

Fabric-based film is another. This is a film made from fabric. While not as common, there have been innovations that made the packaging thin enough that it isn’t large and cumbersome, but also protects the items. The downside is that if you use it, you may have to clean it, depending on what you’re covering. This type of alternative packaging definitely creates a new, innovative experience.

Finally, there is modular foam. This can be reused multiple times.   It is a foam that houses the item inside. While most of the time it is made for the item inside, it can be manipulated to be used for other sorts of means.

All of these can be reused multiple times. some of them can be used so many times that people are able to use it again and again for other times.   It is great for shippers and those refusers that are looking to improve their packaging experience for customers.

Many customers may even bring it back to the company. When they turn this in, they get monetary incentives, or even coupon codes.   It is a great thing to consider, and many people are able to as well, with this, get some bang for their actions, and in turn, they can also help protect the planet.

Why go Reusable

Reusable films and other filler items are great because they’re made to be used again and again. you’re reducing instances of the items being tossed away like they’re nothing. When that happens, they get thrown into the landfill, and they break down over time.

This gives customers a chance to reduce the waste and also lower your long-term costs. Reusing these items means that you don’t have to pay extra money to get these items again.

It also appeals to those eco conscious customers. They’re people who are curious about their environmental statement, and their carbon footprint. When you give them this solution, it addresses a major concern, so more people can partake in your company.

The biggest challenge is the durability that comes with this. over time, it does break down, so you need to ensure that the product is adjusted to address this problem.

The other one is production.   It can take a while to produce these, if at all, and many times, there might not be options for these fillers in your area. You also need to take into account the logistics that come with this, since many times, the logistics may need to be adjusted to make this sustainable.

But, a lot of refillable packaging definitely addresses these costs, and with many different means, it can really help to give you different alternatives, and fun ways to make the packaging filler something that customers want to use for other items.

Tips to Budget Packaging Needs Better

One common question a lot of experts get is how in the world do you set better types of budgets for one’s packaging. When one is asked about their budget for creating these designs, a lot of people hesitate when a number is involved.  However, by creating budgets, you’ll be able to understand the needs that you have, and what sales targets need to be met.

It also is a lot easier, especially when you allot some percentages to packaging, and the budget that’s there.

Brands should be spending less than 10% on the budget that’s there. However, the options do vary with time. The box size does depend on the products, and the elements needed to craft the best unboxing experiences that you can.  You want to also look at the materials as well, in order to determine the prices available on the box.

With that in mind, here are a few tips for making your packaging better.

Know your Product

First, you need to know the packaging, and the product that you’re selling.

The best thing for you to start with is to look at what you’re selling, in order to determine the packaging needed.

Let’s take for example selling health bars. You want display boxes, so that if a person walks past it in the grocery store, they’re sold to them. You should also consider folding cartons for bulk products.

Ask yourself as well these questions before you invest:

  • Is the product easily breakable

  • Are they perishable

  • Are there multiple products within this packaging

  • Are there different products and bundles

You should make sure that you know the right type of material. This can be kraft paper, or heavy-duty boxes.  You also might want to consider varnish, lamination, and certain inks.

You also want to make sure that you know the sales rate, especially if there is a demand for something seasonally.

What’s the unboxing experience

Another part of the product is to look as well at the unboxing experience, and how you wish to reach these customers with it.

Ask what they’re looking for when they unbox each of these products. You might want some boxes that are eco friendly, and easy to recycle. Kraft paper is ideal there

You also want some soy-based types of inks to help with printing, ensuring that this is biodegradable.
customers also like to be surprised too when they get something. Add some small thank-you notes, discounts, and also encourage them to buy another order.

Make sure to remember the following when you’re putting these together:

  • Don’t go too crazy. The idea of less being more is ideal here. don’t overload people, so they’ll be excited, and not overwhelmed by this.

  • Create a bulk offset, so that you don’t have to spend more on the packaging.

  • If it’s being accredited to being environmentally friendly, have a certificate or something to show this, as this provides a unique edge over what other customers have, and this can help you stand out in the long run.

The Value of Functionality and Aesthetics

Finally, you’ve got to figure out if you value functionality, aesthetics, or both.

If you’re going to be functional, get some kraft boxes.  You can also get folding cartons too, but they’re not as sturdy.

For those that care about designs, you want to get a packaging design studio to provide you with the designs that you want to.

Once in place, you just have to put together the boxes, and every aspect of it that you need right away.

Why biodegradable Packaging IS The Future of Packaging

Biodegradable packaging isn’t just a new thing—it’s the future! Biodegradable packaging offers a wealth of different benefits, especially environmental benefits. It provides sustainability in the world of modern packaging, and an alternative to recycled packaging.

Some people aren’t good at recycling. Some, as well, aren’t very good at reusing their packaging. But the best thing about biodegradable packaging is that they don’t have to do either of these things, but instead just toss the packaging.

What Biodegradable Packaging Entails

Biodegradable packaging is literally packaging that breaks down over time. These are made from plant-based types of plastics and materials that are easy to compost.   They simply get tossed, and they break down over time.

The same goes with the films and coatings.   When a packaging has this coating on it, rather than rendering it unsustainable, it helps to break it down, so that it’s able to be properly tossed away in a manner that’s good for the planet. Overall, it’s perfect for everyone, especially those who are tired of letting their packaging not be disposed of properly.

The benefits of This

The most obvious benefit of this is that it reduces the waste and environmental impact of this. Lots of people are amazed at just how much they are able to toss this. It does help the environment, reducing your carbon footprint and overall impact.   It’s great as well for minimizing waste. With packaging waste being at an all-time high, companies need to start thinking about the unique ways that they can reduce this. Luckily, biodegradable packaging provides this in so many regards, allowing you to have the ideal packaging experience that you can, without too much trouble.

Challenges associated with this

Now, while it is great for a lot of packaging, there are some factors to consider.

The first one is product protection. Some of the biodegradable packaging, like cornstarch, might interact with the packaging items there, impacting the overall shelf life of this.   This, of course, can pose a problem over time.

The shelf life as well is affected by this. if the shelf life is impacted by the packaging, it might not be worthwhile to have.

However, there is a bigger problem with sustainable packaging.   That is, the sourcing. Sure, you’re sourcing from better areas, but if it’s virgin land, sometimes it causes issues with the soil, such as erosion. This impacts nutrients and growth of the items on that land over time. This does compound into further issues, where you’re not being fully sustainable.

So when you’re choosing the right packaging for this biodegradable option, please ensure that you’re getting this from sourced and sustainable types of places, where they take care of the packaging, so that you’re able to get the best experience you can.

How to start with biodegradable Packaging

The best way to start is to do your research.

Do you want to pack peanuts made from cornstarch? Or mushroom packaging? Do you want to get some seaweed packaging for some of the foods that you’re selling? Take a look around and see what works for you.

If you have items that are good in boxes, you can get biodegradable plastic containers for items.   Consider using this if you’re looking for a plastic alternative.

All in all, just make sure that you look at your budget, and then decide for yourself the best course of action for your packaging, in order to ensure that you’re getting a packaging experience that’s beneficial for you and fits the needs that you have for your packaging.
