Tips to Budget Packaging Needs Better

One common question a lot of experts get is how in the world do you set better types of budgets for one’s packaging. When one is asked about their budget for creating these designs, a lot of people hesitate when a number is involved.  However, by creating budgets, you’ll be able to understand the needs that you have, and what sales targets need to be met.

It also is a lot easier, especially when you allot some percentages to packaging, and the budget that’s there.

Brands should be spending less than 10% on the budget that’s there. However, the options do vary with time. The box size does depend on the products, and the elements needed to craft the best unboxing experiences that you can.  You want to also look at the materials as well, in order to determine the prices available on the box.

With that in mind, here are a few tips for making your packaging better.

Know your Product

First, you need to know the packaging, and the product that you’re selling.

The best thing for you to start with is to look at what you’re selling, in order to determine the packaging needed.

Let’s take for example selling health bars. You want display boxes, so that if a person walks past it in the grocery store, they’re sold to them. You should also consider folding cartons for bulk products.

Ask yourself as well these questions before you invest:

  • Is the product easily breakable

  • Are they perishable

  • Are there multiple products within this packaging

  • Are there different products and bundles

You should make sure that you know the right type of material. This can be kraft paper, or heavy-duty boxes.  You also might want to consider varnish, lamination, and certain inks.

You also want to make sure that you know the sales rate, especially if there is a demand for something seasonally.

What’s the unboxing experience

Another part of the product is to look as well at the unboxing experience, and how you wish to reach these customers with it.

Ask what they’re looking for when they unbox each of these products. You might want some boxes that are eco friendly, and easy to recycle. Kraft paper is ideal there

You also want some soy-based types of inks to help with printing, ensuring that this is biodegradable.
customers also like to be surprised too when they get something. Add some small thank-you notes, discounts, and also encourage them to buy another order.

Make sure to remember the following when you’re putting these together:

  • Don’t go too crazy. The idea of less being more is ideal here. don’t overload people, so they’ll be excited, and not overwhelmed by this.

  • Create a bulk offset, so that you don’t have to spend more on the packaging.

  • If it’s being accredited to being environmentally friendly, have a certificate or something to show this, as this provides a unique edge over what other customers have, and this can help you stand out in the long run.

The Value of Functionality and Aesthetics

Finally, you’ve got to figure out if you value functionality, aesthetics, or both.

If you’re going to be functional, get some kraft boxes.  You can also get folding cartons too, but they’re not as sturdy.

For those that care about designs, you want to get a packaging design studio to provide you with the designs that you want to.

Once in place, you just have to put together the boxes, and every aspect of it that you need right away.
